DESCRIPTION:We will be collecting for two charities this month and next\, and you can click here to see two brief videos that talk about the funds: Strengthen the Church (STC) and One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS). These two collections are usually taken in the spring\, but this spring was exceptionally strange and chaotic for me\, so we postponed them. We will be talking about these in upcoming services\, but if you would like to make a donation to either\, you can click here or Venmo to @wehoucc (phone# 323-793-9059) and type OGHS or STC in the memo. Because we know we are taking these later in the year and close together\, our church leadership has agreed to contribute $300 to each from our Mission Endowment Fund to supplement whatever is contributed. DESCRIPTION:With the Federal Government shutdown entering its fourth week\, there is a significant and devastating threat to the food security for the most vulnerable\, our youth\, seniors and families.  LA County Parks is (and has been) a critical part of the food safety net services in 48 Parks\, 16 Teen Centers and 9 Senior centers and programs. \nTo support this dire situation with the loss of SNAP and CalFresh and critical food access impacting Los Angeles County residents\, LA County Parks is leaning in to expand capacity to its Food Programs at Parks! \nLA County Parks provides the following food safety net services programs for youth\, teens and seniors. These food programs are \n\nFree Healthy Snack Program for youth at 48 parks (Monday thru Friday @ 3pm-4pm) – ages 17 and under.\nFree Hot Supper (Dinner) Program at Our SPOT Teen Centers for teens at 16 parks (Monday thru Friday @ 7pm) – ages 12 to 18 years old.\nFree Senior Food Program for older adults at 9 parks (Monday thru Friday) – age 55+
