This is your friendly reminder that this week we will be gathering after worship for Bible Study in the Fellowship Hall\, but Pastor Tracy will be away. We will be watching a video of a previous sermon on Trans Folk in the Bible\, and then discussing. Howard will also bring his laptop so that everyone can watch the video together on Sunday.\n\nMay 10 is Mother’s Day so we will not be having Bible Study after worship. We will resume Bible Study on Sunday\, May 17.\n\n\n\n\nMany blessings\,\n\nPastor Tracy\n\n\n\nPlease Welcome Our Special Guest Preacher Rev. Teogenes Tawagon. \nRev. Teogenes Tawagon is a graduate of Silliman University Divinity School\, Dumaguete\, Philippines. He majored in counselling and pastoral ministry with a degree of Bachelor of Theology. \nTeo’s church/pastoral ministry began in 1996 with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines. In 2005 Teo migrated here in the United States through his wife’s employment visa. In 2007\, he decided to seek ecclesiastical standing and serve the United Church of Christ. \nCurrently holding a ministerial standing with the Eastern Association of the Southern California Nevada Conference – UCC\, Teo serves as Pastor and founding minister of the Moreno Valley Faith Community UCC since 2014. \nAside from serving the church\, Teo also works as a full time Hospice Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator for 11 years now\, in various hospice care offices. \nHe is also an active member of Pacific Islander Asian American Ministries (PAAM) of the United Church of Christ. \nTeo is married to Joy Tawagon\, and they have two children: Wil\, and Cara. Presently\, Teo and family are members of the Faith Community United Church of Christ. They are presently worshiping with First Congregational UCC in Perris. \n

These passages are often quoted\, traditionally legislated\, and regularly weaponized. Have you ever wondered if they really mean what we are told? If so\, why does it matter? \nIn this series will delve deeply into eight passages most commonly associated with the issue of homosexuality and the Bible. When put into their proper context\, we find that these passages have surprising meanings and new messages of hope for us today. Light refreshments will be provided. Feel free to brown bag your lunch or bring something to share if you would like.
