Bible Study series
September 16 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
We will be launching a new eight-part Bible Study series on Mondays beginning 9/16. We will gather from 6-7:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall and via Zoom. People are encouraged to bring a brown bag dinner and eat during the study! We will be repeating our Bible in Perspective series that demystifies the seven deadly passages by putting them back into their original context. This course is specifically designed to educate, empower, and inspire the LGBTQIA+ community. If you would like to join us via Zoom, please register here no later than 9/15.
Bible in Perspective: An Eight-Part Series on the Cobber Texts
For decades seven passages from the Bible have been used to harass, intimidate, and oppress the LGBTQIA+ community. But they are always taken out of context. Please join us as we put these passages back into their original language and context. You may be surprised what a message of inclusion and hope they actually contain for all of God’s children.
Monday nights at 6 PM, September 16 – November 4, 2024
You can join us in person at West Hollywood United Church of Christ, 7350 Sunset Blvd. Bring a brown bag dinner to eat while we learn!
Or Join us via Zoom – pre-registration is required
September 16 | Biblical Authority
How much authority does the Bible hold, and where does it come from? Is it the actual word of God, just inspired, or something else? |
September 23 | Sodom and Gomorrah
Why was Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed? Why would God condone such horrible treatment of women? Was homosexuality really the cause? |
September 30 | Abomination and the Death Penalty
Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13
“If a man lays with another man…” is so often quoted, but do you know what comes before it? What comes after? What does abomination mean, anyway?
