Dear friends in Christ,

On Palm Sunday we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal arrival in Jerusalem, which was
anything but. People expected a king, Jesus refused royal titles. People expected a
cavalry, Jesus arrived on a donkey. People expected an army, Jesus arrived with a rag-
tag group of apostles. People expected a coup, Jesus steered clear of the political
leaders. How did people get it so wrong, and yet, how did Jesus get it so right? This
anti-parade set the tone for Jesus’ final week, and also for our discipleship today.
Please join us as we begin our worship service outside with a Parade of Palms, and
then dig into one of the most baffling – and liberating – incidents in Jesus’ life.

Easter Week at West Hollywood United Church of Christ
Sunday, March 29, 2026 – Palm Sunday Service with a Parade of Palms beginning at
11 AM.
Wednesday, April 1, 2026 – We will collect funds for our Easter Lily Memorial Garden.
You can donate in any amount in honor or memory of a loved one. Please see Tom
Droney to donate and give him the name of your loved one. The memorial names will
be displayed during worship, and a memorial program will be available for you to take
home with you lily. Please donate and give your information to Tom no later than
4/1/2026.
Thursday, April 2, 2026 – Maundy Thursday Service and Potluck Soup Supper. Please
arrive a little before 6 PM to put your soups in the kitchen to heat them. We will gather
for worship in the Sanctuary at 6 PM, and then have a soup supper afterward.
Sunday, April 5, 2026 – Easter Sunday – Worship starts at 11 AM
Please wear your fanciest Easter Bonnet for our Easter Bonnet Parade. We will have
fancy easter bonnets available on Easter Sunday for you to wear. Suggested donation
$10, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
