Dear friends in Christ,

In the third part of our 5-week series on Jacob’s transformation into the Father of Israel,
this Sunday we will focus on Jacob’s wrestling all night with the Angel. This incident
occurs at the eleventh hour in Jacob’s life, after years of avoiding his past. As Jacob is
standing on the edge of the river, he is at a crossroads in his life, and he must face both
his past and future at the same time. God has been preparing him for this moment, but
in the end, only Jacob can decide to step forward in faith. This story has much to teach
us about reconciling our past, welcoming our future, and stepping forth in faith – with
fear and trembling. Please join us this Sunday as we dig deep into Jacob’s story,
struggle, and decision.

In Bible Study we will continue on our journey through the Jesus’ sermon on the mount
in the Gospel of Matthew, chapters 5-7. This week we will continue with Jesus’
instruction on light and salt, and Sunday, August 9 we will make prayer candles.
