Dear friends in Christ,
When Jesus talks about polluted lips and how they can harm, He is not discussing a
new concept. But the way he discusses it is shockingly new, and despite its simplicity,
his disciples still don’t understand. This is not a unique scene, but what happens next
changes everything. We see a Jesus immediately practicing what he preaches, and
evolving before everyone’s eyes. Jesus’ word and example has much to teach us about
the possibility for growth, healing, and transformation.
In the Fellowship Hall after worship, In Bible Study this week we are studying
Discipleship as described in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew,
chapters 5-7.
