Dear friends in Christ,

This Sunday we are blessed to have Rev. Howard Fauntroy preaching for us on a
passage from Jeremiah on the topic of nomads. I will be out of the office from this
Sunday, November 23 – Saturday November, 29. I will return on Sunday, November 30
for the first Sunday of Advent.

THIS WEEKEND

This Saturday, 11/22 – the Knitting Ministry’s plans to attend the SoCal Fiber Fair in
Pomona has shifted to a location closer to home: Michael’s Crafts on La Brea Avenue in
Los Angeles. We will meet at the church parking lot at 9:30 AM on Saturday. If you
would like to join the carpool, please call or text me at 323-793-9059 and let me know
no later than 9 AM Saturday morning so we know to watch for you. We will stop for
coffee, brunch, or lunch after the excursion depending on what time we emerge from
the yarn section.

This Sunday, 11/23 – We will be decorating the church for Christmas immediately after
worship. We are asking folks to choose one decoration to assemble, install, and/or
display and work in teams of two or three for larger or more complicated decorations.
Jim and Tere have spent the week pulling out all of our lovely decorations and checking
that they are all intact and working. After worship on Sunday, plan on staying in the
sanctuary for a few minutes to sort out who will be assembling what and then when the
work is done, settle in for some lovely refreshments. If you would like to help, please
contact Tere directly by arriving on Sunday morning and letting her know you would like
to help.

ADVENT at West Hollywood UCC
Our Advent Devotionals will be here soon and will be available for pick-up in the
sanctuary. The suggested donation to cover our costs is $4.25 but no one will be
turned away due to lack of funds. Please see Tom any Sunday morning during
Advent at the entrance to the Sanctuary for a devotional.

Sunday, November 30 – Hope SundayJoin us after worship for a special Friendsgiving Celebration potluck. The church will
provide beverages and paper products. You can bring leftovers or a dish to share. Our
goal is to keep it simple and keep it fun!

Sunday, December 7 – Peace Sunday
Join us after worship as we sort and box up donated clothes for the Compassionate
Boutique at The Hub, a local homeless shelter where people in need can get clothes for
free. We understand that they are in need of men's and women's shoes, either dress shoes, sneakers, or work boots. Men’s size 7 to 15 and women’s size 5 to 13. Due to
space issues, we cannot accept clothing donations after 12 noon on 12/7. Please see
Tere for more info.

Sunday, December 14 – Joy Sunday
Please join us for birthday and anniversary blessings
2 PM – You’re warmly invited to a Holiday Recital from Mark Abulencia’s studio,
followed by a reception. In lieu of an entrance fee, please kindly consider a donation to
our Sack Lunch Program. Thank you!

Sunday, December 21 – Love Sunday

Wednesday, December 24 – Christmas Eve
Please join us at 5 PM for a special Candlelit Service that will end early enough to get
the little kiddos back home for dinner before they go to sleep to dream of sugar plums.
We will look forward to seeing you there!
