October 4 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Dear friends in Christ,
Let me start with a moment of gratitude for everyone who has been helping me and praying for me while I recover from my medical procedure last Monday. Special thanks go to Rodney for preaching and leading worship in my absence, Tere for handling the pastor’s cell phone for the past week, Giselle for keeping everything running so smoothly while I was out of commission, and to everyone for their small kindness and prayers.
This Sunday we will be studying the story of Jesus using a small child as an example of how to find the Kin-dom of heaven. His example wasn’t out of left field. He was interrupting an argument on greatness. This incident shows the many and layered ways human beings compare themselves to one another both positively and negatively, and the dire effects these one-upmanship contests have on relationships and community. Jesus’ example, wisdom, and wordplay show us a better way forward as individuals and together and have much that still resonates in today’s world.
In Bible Study after worship in the Fellowship Hall we are studying the Sermon on the Mount in the Book of Matthew, are focusing on how to pray – and how not to pray – in chapter 6:1-18.
Also, this Friday we will be gathering in the Sanctuary at 7 PM for a screening of the new film “Unfriendly Fire” with a Q&A with some members of the cast and crew. This is the film the fascists don’t want you to see, but we definitely do!
We will look forward to seeing you there.
Many blessings,
Pastor Tracy
